Every Friday night in Marsella is Pizza Night. While I am not usually one for pizza, this is the biggest night of the week for the Expats in our area of Nicaragua. Also, we didn’t come here to be part of the Expats or hang out with them. However, Pizza Night occurs at a place called Machete, and it is brilliant.
Machete is a local artisan bakery, cheese shop, and brunch spot. But they have found their niche in Pizza Night. They have an old-school brick pizza oven, two dudes cooking, and only offer six pizzas and three appetizers for the night. Everything, much like everything in Nica, is handmade and homemade. It’s so busy that you are better off knowing what pizza you want and ordering it when you sit down and order your drinks, because of the limited kitchen space and the number of people who show up. Our pics don’t do the place justice, but it is a magical place just down the street from our pad, encircled by the jungle and all the elements. If you ever come to San Juan Del Sur and/or Playa Marsella, this is a must-stop!!
