Mirador del Cristo de la Misericordia
“Christ of the Mercy”
This place was pretty cool, even though it is billed as one of the tallest in the world. While it doesn’t do justice to the Brazilian Christ the Redeemer, it is pretty impressive, and the views are world-class. Our photos don’t do the place justice; we thoroughly enjoyed the visit (even though the drive up the hill probably got the better of Angel). The spot was only 5 minutes from our pad and gave an unparalleled view. You can see the bay of San Juan, beaches to the north, and almost all of Costa Rica. It reminded me of going to Cabrillo in Point Loma on a clear day, where you can see the city and many other parts of the coast that you probably will never go to. Finally, while it is a monument to religion and faith (something I don’t usually go for), it was terrific. We met a family from Florida willing to trade times to take photos for us and us for them. People here in Nicaragua, whether tourists or locals, fucking rock.
