The beaches are something left unsaid. I, and hopefully Angel, love the beach more than any other place. You can give me a beach, and I will stay forever, whether OB, Nica, or Jones Beach. There is something to be said for the beach’s mystic nature, and we have found some wonders. Marsella, our beach, is excellent: a local beach that caters to swimming rather than surfing, and a brilliant cove (much like OB) that brings everyone who isn’t an expat; you usually have the place to yourself, as our pictures show. Playa Maderas is another animal, as it (much like OB) is a perennial surf beach packed with asshats from all over the world because of the left and right breaks. However, Maderas is a great place to continue learning to surf, and ask for Romo if you go. Romo had me up on my first go, and I never looked back!! The best beach we found (while not exploring as much as we should have) was Playa Majagual. Majagual was superb, but it had a rip current worse than most places I have been to before, and there is no such thing as a lifeguard or warnings in a place like Nica. The beaches are top-notch, and it will be tough to beat them outside a more remote place like Bali or the Galapagos.
