Lazy Monday and let the Ceviche Wars Begin
We had no big plans, let alone any, for the day. Today we restocked on food, did laundry, and continued our laziest existence possible. However, we decided to rent a car starting Tuesday for a few days, since we can only show so many shots of our same beach in different lights. Enjoy the pics, and hopefully Tuesday brings some craziness.
Today I decided to shift gears in my food quests. I originally had the brilliant idea of wandering the Pacific coast of SDJS in search of all the lobster I could find. Had my dumb ass done some simple Google research, I would have realized it is NOT lobster season and that I should redirect my belly-extending efforts to another type of indulgence.
Hence – Ceviche!!! While ceviche is not a new concept to me or anyone else, this place is ripe with it, and every establishment offers some type of ceviche or a derivative/variety of it. Today I started my ceviche quest at our local, “El Islote,” and ordered their ceviche mixto, which was supposed to include a mix of seafood (fucking obviously). Yet lobster and squid (calamari for you uncouth jamokes) are out of season, and I had to settle for a mix of fish, scallops, clams, and conch. All said, the mixto was very good but could definitely have used lobster and squid added to the mix. All in all, the ceviche was good, fresh, and a 5 out of what the fuck ever on the Chip ceviche taste scale.
