Power Outages and Our Obsolete Generator

June 4, 2024

Power outages are a real deal here; they happen 1 to 3 times daily because of the grid. While Nica is one of the best in the world when it comes to being sustainable and green, the grid fucking sucks, to say the least. It was usually a quick inconvenience and fixed quickly until it wasn’t. We had a nasty storm, coupled with multiple earthquakes) on one of the last nights in our VRBO, it knocked out three transformers (massive explosions from each) and lasted 12 hours. Let me tell you how it is: 12 hours in the jungle with no fans or AC, especially when the generator works but won’t power the house as it should; it is not fun. Yes, we might have been a bit bougie to expect more, but it was only one day of us bitching like white people from OB. All you can do is suck it up and swim in the ocean, and really, that is not a lousy penance.
