Let’s buy some property!
There shouldn’t be a question mark, as this happens when I type. We are working on buying a lot or finding a turnkey place. We initially talked of Mexico (Baja, to be exact), but this place is just too excellent and priced better than most places worldwide. In September, we will return with Dougie (if you don’t know, oh well) to purchase a lot(s) or a turnkey second-generation house and land. The process is straightforward; we have already met with a realtor and lawyer to facilitate it. Additionally, getting a resident visa is relatively easy, as I qualify for the pensioner visa (yes, I’m fucking old), a skilled worker visa (don’t laugh), or we will both qualify for residency after purchasing anything over $35K.
Many will ask why you would move to Nica. Life here is much different than OB or any other beach in the States. There is no gray area here when it comes to the law, yet it is one of the best places to visit or live. The people, the country, and everything else have beaten the hell out of most places we have ever been in the world. The laid-back nature of life, the prices, and the people have made this journey one we can never forget and hope to continue for the rest of our lives.
We have met some of the best people in the world here who have looked out for our best interests and welcomed us as a family (see pics of our last supper). We have met a slew of people who are more than impressive, whether it was Erick (the best person in Nica), our housekeeper Jackie, my surf brother Romo, our landlord Cori, and many others. Everyone here loves life (even though there are issues) and always welcomes you with a smile (outside of one biatch at our local bodega). I wouldn’t trade the world for the connections we have made here, and NO, it is not like the Locals episode of South Park, as we didn’t get leis like in Hawaii to make us “native.”
